Palliative Care is a home-based palliative care program that provides interdisciplinary team support while a person is still pursuing treatment. The professional staff at Hospice Maui bring a depth of caring and compassion to this program which grants a unique support option to our community. Palliative Care provides strong support for persons with serious illnesses or conditions and can be provided in addition to usual medical care. Services are focused on helping manage the symptoms and stresses of serious conditions while maximizing quality of life. The Palliative Care Program includes the following:

  • Symptom management such as pain, dyspnea, nausea, and other symptoms

  • Improvement in comfort and sense of well-being

  • Integration of values, beliefs, and spiritual practices into treatment choices

  • Coordination of treatments, medications, and communication among all healthcare providers

  • Advance Care Planning to help make informed choices

  • 24 hr on-call nursing support

  • Social work, nurse aide, spiritual care, and volunteer support

  • Support for family members and caregivers

  • Regular RN visits to assist with symptom management

  • Assistance with medications and equipment
