In recent years, complementary and alternative medicine modalities, including acupuncture, have been incorporated into hospice care both to address symptom distress and to enhance quality of life.

Acupuncture, administered by licensed practitioners, offers a safe and proven complementary therapy. It significantly alleviates pain, nausea, depression, anxiety, fatigue, poor appetite, and constipation, while enhancing overall well-being. During a session, thin needles are gently inserted into specific points on the skin, causing minimal discomfort. After a rest period of 10 to 30 minutes, the needles are removed and disposed of. Some people feel relaxed afterward, while others have more energy.
