What is Acupuncture and How Can it Help?

In hospice, symptoms are often treated with medications, but holistic therapies can be an integral support in enhancing the quality of patient-centered care. Hospice Maui understands that emotional and spiritual concerns are as important as pain management. Anxiety, depression, grief, anger, loneliness, and insomnia can even exacerbate other health issues for the caregiver and the patient.

Our Acupuncture Program provides complimentary house calls for you and your caregiver(s) during this significant time. Acupuncture, Needleless Energy Healing, and Holistic Medical recommendations are offered to support the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

What Does Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture is a facet of East Asian medicine that has been practiced since 5000 B.C. to balance the energy in the body known as Qi (Chi). Thin needles are inserted into the skin at particular locations to help balance energy to reduce symptoms and bring about a sense of relaxation.

The dying process produces a unique set of stressors and ailments commonly seen in the patient and the caregivers that are relieved with acupuncture. Below is a list of symptoms often relieved by our licensed acupuncturists.

What to Expect?

One of our licensed Acupuncturists will be assigned to your household. House call visits will last between 60-90 minutes.

After talking with your Acupuncturist you will receive a treatment where small needles are administered in particular areas of the body to address your unique symptoms. Needles will remain for 10 to 40 minutes allowing you to relax and receive the treatment.

You could also receive needless acupuncture, other forms of energy healing, massage, counseling, and holistic medical recommendations during your treatment.

After the treatment, you may feel more relaxed and relieved of symptoms lasting several days or more. Some health issues do require several treatments before finding relief.
