Hospice Maui: Ho‘olu‘olu

Hospice care is quality, compassionate care that maximizes the comfort and dignity of those with a progressive, incurable disease, and who are probably in the last months of life.  A team of specially trained professionals including back-up physicians, nurses and nurse aides, social workers, counselors/chaplains and volunteers, are all available to provide expert care.

Services include pain management and symptom control, 24-hour on-call services, free medicines, supplies and equipment related to the illness, care giving instructions, personal care assistance, hospitalization when care can't be managed at home, and respite assistance and support from trained volunteers.  But, unlike other services that focus only on the patient's physical needs, Hospice Maui also provides emotional and spiritual support for the patient and loved ones, as well as bereavement support for an entire year after the death.
